Applied Kinesiology
Applied Kinesiology is a rapid and precise diagnostic and therapeutic method that uses muscle testing to identify structural, visceral, biochemical and, where applicable, emotional imbalances in the body.
Developed in 1964 by the American chiropractor George Goodheart, it integrates principles of manual therapy, acupuncture and reflexology, linking muscles, organs and energy meridians. The muscle test assesses the neuromuscular response to various stimuli: whether these be points that retain the memory of past trauma, reflex points of internal organs, ‘weak’ and disharmonious areas of the body, acupuncture energy points, supplements or external chemical substances.
It obviously does not replace medical diagnosis and treatment, but it is an excellent complement to osteopathy and, more generally, to all forms of manual therapy, enabling a more holistic approach and allowing the dysfunctions underlying the patient’s symptoms to be identified and interpreted more quickly, comprehensively and accessibly.
